DESIGN OF A DROWSINESS DETECTION DEVICE FOR CAR DRIVERS BASED ON ARDUINO

Traffic accidents caused by drowsy drivers are a serious problem that requires an effective solution. This research aims to design and build a drowsiness detection device based on Arduino that can improve driving safety. The system uses Arduino Nano as the main microcontroller, an MPU6500 Gyro Accelerometer sensor to detect the driver's head movements, and a Buzzer as a warning alarm. The MPU6500 sensor is used to measure changes in head position that indicate signs of drowsiness, such as repeated head nodding or unstable movements. Data from the sensor is processed by Arduino Nano, and when a drowsiness pattern is detected, the Buzzer will sound as a warning for the driver to take a break. The system testing was conducted to ensure the accuracy and responsiveness of the device. Test results show that this device can detect signs of drowsiness with high accuracy and provide quick and effective warnings. This device is expected to be a practical solution to reduce the risk of accidents due to drowsiness and improve the safety of drivers and passengers on the road.Downloads
