Abstract

ABSTRACT- The 3-month injectable contraceptive (Depo Progestin) is one of the most commonly used

hormonal contraceptive methods among women in Indonesia. This method effectively prevents pregnancy by

inhibiting ovulation and thickening cervical mucus. However, long-term use of this contraceptive is often

associated with various side effects, one of which is changes in blood pressure. This study employed a

quantitative research method with a pre-experimental design, specifically a one-group pretest-posttest design,

involving a herbal therapy intervention using boiled bay leaf water on 20 respondents—women using the 3-

month injectable contraceptive in Rurukan Subdistrict, East Tomohon District. The instrument used was an

observation sheet, and the statistical test applied was the Paired t-test, yielding a p-value of 0.001 (p<0.05),

indicating a statistically significant difference in blood pressure before and after the intervention. Based on

these results, it can be concluded that the administration of boiled bay leaf water has a significant effect on

lowering blood pressure in women using the 3-month injectable contraceptive in Rurukan Subdistrict, East

Tomohon District.
