Education Instills Awareness of a Healthy Environment by Empowering Communities to Manage Waste

Abstract

The implementation of community service in Kaweng Village aims to instill awareness of a healthy environment through education about effective waste management. This program involves outreach, training, and campaigns at the village level to increase community understanding about the importance of waste segregation, reducing the use of single-use plastics, and recycling. By involving residents, community leaders, and related parties, this activity is expected to create behavioral changes in waste management that are more environmentally friendly. The results of the service implementation show an increase in public awareness of waste management, as well as active participation in reducing household waste. However, the sustainability of this program requires support from various parties, both government and society, to ensure supporting infrastructure and waste management policies. Overall, this service succeeded in having a positive impact on efforts to create a healthier and more sustainable environment in Kaweng Village.
