RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FAMILY SUPPORT AND COMPLIANCE IN TAKING MEDICATION IN HYPERTENSION PATIENTS AT KAKASKASEN COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER, TOMOHON

Purpose. To determine the correlation between family support and compliance in taking medicine on elderly with hypertension health center.Method. This study employed descriptive correlational design with cross sectional approach. There were 50 respondents who are suffrefer with hypertension recruited as the samples. They were chosen by using probability sampling technique with consecutive sampling. The data were collected by using questionnaire modified by Toulasik and were analyzed by using Spearman’s Rho Correlation test.Findings. From 50 respondents, 32 respondents (64,0%) male and 18 respondents (36,0%) female. 99 respondents (70.1%) were 40-59 years old. The result of the study showed that 21 respondents (42,0%) had poor family support, 20 respondents (40,0%) had sufficient family support and 9 respondents (18,0%) had good family support. 11 respondents (22,0%) had poor compliance in taking obedient, had sufficient compliance in taking not obey,39 (78,0). There was connction correlation between two variables, the significant (2-taidel) is 0,003< 0,05 Conclusion. There is significant correlation connetction family support and compliance in taking medicine on sufferer.It is suggested families elderly with to spare time to monitor them to improve the compliance in taking medicine or get the best treatment.
