Abstract

Antenatal care (ANC) is a crucial component of pregnancy that aims to provide information and education to expectant mothers. This study seeks to analyze the relationship between maternal knowledge and attitudes with compliance in ANC implementation at RS Bethesda Tomohon. The research employs a cross-sectional correlational design, involving a sample of 113 pregnant women selected through purposive sampling. The independent variables are knowledge and attitudes, while the dependent variable is ANC compliance. Knowledge is assessed using a questionnaire with binary scoring, and attitudes are measured via a Likert scale. Compliance is evaluated based on the frequency of ANC visits. Results from the Spearman’s Rho test indicate a moderate and significant positive correlation between maternal knowledge and ANC compliance (correlation coefficient 0.353; p=0.000). Furthermore, maternal attitudes demonstrate a stronger and significant correlation with ANC compliance (correlation coefficient 0.349; p=0.000). These findings highlight that enhancing maternal knowledge and fostering positive attitudes significantly contribute to adherence to ANC, thereby potentially reducing the risk of complications during pregnancy and childbirth. This study aims to provide insights for improving educational programs and interventions in ANC services across Indonesia.
