Abstract

Five Moment Hand Hygiene or 5 Moment Hand Washing is an effective step in breaking the chain of cross-infection, which can significantly reduce the incidence of nosocomial infections. The application of Five Moment Hand Hygiene to infection prevention and control is very important. Therefore, in providing nursing actions must pay attention to the implementation of good and correct hand washing and need to be done with awareness from nurses. This study aims to determine the relationship between nurses' knowledge about hand hygiene and compliance with the implementation of five moments at GMIM Kalooran Amurang General Hospital which was conducted in June - July 2025. This study used a quantitative method with a descriptive correlation design and data collection using a non-probability sampling technique with a margin of error of 0.05. The results of the study showed a significant relationship between knowledge and compliance with hand washing with the results of the chi-square test obtained the result ρ = 0.005 <0.05, which means Ha is accepted H0 is rejected. The results of the study further showed a significant relationship between knowledge and compliance with hand washing. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between nurses' knowledge about hand hygiene and compliance with the implementation of five moments at GMIM Kalooran Amurang General Hospital.
