ABSTRACT- Hypertension is common among the elderly due to structural and functional changes in the heart and blood vessels. The risk factors for hypertension are classified into uncontrollable factors, such as family history, gender, and age, as well as controllable factors, including obesity, lack of physical activity, smoking behavior, and dietary patterns high in sodium and saturated fat. Uncontrolled hypertension increases mortality rates and may lead to complications in several vital organs, such as the heart (myocardial infarction, coronary heart disease, and congestive heart failure) One alternative non-pharmacological therapy to help reduce blood pressure in hypertensive patients is foot soaking in warm water infused with lemongrass. This study aims to analyze the effect of foot soaking using warm water with lemongrass on reducing blood pressure in elderly individuals with hypertension. The research design used was a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-postest approach. The respondent consisted of 20 elderly individuals with hypertension living in Rurukan Sub-district. The intervention involved soaking the feet in warm water with lemongrass, and data were collected by measuring blood pressure before and after the intervention.Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and the results showed a significant reduction in blood pressure after the intervention (p <0.05). These findings indicate that foot soaking with warm lemongrass water is effective in lowering blood pressure among elderly indibiduals with hypertension.
