Abstract

Hypertension is an increase in systolic pulse rate of more than 120 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure of more than 80 mmHg in two examinations with a very quiet minute time. The number of people with hypertension continues to increase every year, to achieve good behavior towards hypertension prevention efforts, good and correct knowledge about hypertension itself is needed, with good knowledge it will form behavior and lifestyle including the right diet against the risk of hypertension. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and diet with the incidence of hypertension in the community in the Manado Class I Health Quarantine Center environment. The population in this study were people suffering from hypertension, namely 159 people, while the sample used was 114 Respomdem, this study was conducted in the BKK Class I Manado environment from November to December 2024. The research method is included in descriptive correlative with a cross-sectional approach. The instrument used was a questionnaire sheet. The results of the analysis using the Chi-square test on the knowledge variable explained that the p value = 0.030 so that the p value <ɑ 0.05. In the dietary pattern variable, the p value is obtained = 0.020 so that the p value < ɑ 0.05, thus Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. So it can be concluded that there is a relationship between knowledge and dietary patterns with the incidence of hypertension in the community in the Manado Class I Health Quarantine Center environment.
