Abstract

INTRODUCTION: KNOWLEDGE IS A VERY IMPORTANT PART OF THE PROCESS OF CHANGING A PERSON'S BEHAVIOR. TREATMENT COMPLIANCE IS THE PATIENT'S BEHAVIOR IN FOLLOWING THE DOCTOR'S ADVICE AND PROCEDURES RELATED TO TREATMENT, SUCH AS TAKING MEDICATION, FOLLOWING A DIET, OR DOING EXERCISE. OBJECTIVE: TO DETERMINE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN KNOWLEDGE AND FAMILY SUPPORT WITH MEDICATION COMPLIANCE IN PULMONARY TB PATIENTS IN SIAU TIMUR DISTRICT. METHOD: THIS TYPE OF RESEARCH USES A CROSS-SECTIONAL DESIGN. THE SAMPLE IN THIS STUDY AMOUNTED TO 101 RESPONDENTS WITH A SAMPLING TECHNIQUE OF TOTAL SAMPLING. DATA COLLECTION USING A QUESTIONNAIRE ON KNOWLEDGE, FAMILY SUPPORT, AND COMPLIANCE. THE DATA ANALYSIS TECHNIQUE USED WAS THE SPERMA RHO TEST. RESULTS: OF THE 101 RESPONDENTS, 40 PEOPLE (40%) HAD GOOD KNOWLEDGE, 47 PEOPLE (47%) HAD GOOD FAMILY SUPPORT AND 84 PEOPLE (84%) HAD COMPLIANCE. BASED ON THE RESULTS OF THE SPEARMAN RHO TEST, IT WAS FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN KNOWLEDGE AND COMPLIANCE WITH A P-VALUE OF 0.008 <Ɑ 0.05 AND A CORRELATION COEFFICIENT VALUE OF 0.662. THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FAMILY SUPPORT AND MEDICATION ADHERENCE WITH A P-VALUE OF 0.000 <Ɑ 0.05 AND A CORRELATION COEFFICIENT OF 0.752. CONCLUSION: THERE IS A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN KNOWLEDGE AND FAMILY SUPPORT AND MEDICATION ADHERENCE IN PULMONARY TB PATIENTS IN SIAU TIMUR DISTRICT
