PENGARUH EDUKASI KESEHATAN TENTANG PENYAKIT INFEKSI MENULAR SEKSUAL TERHADAP PENGETAHUAN PADA REMAJA SISWA SMK DHARMA BAKTI TOMOHON

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) are one of the most serious health issues commonly experienced by adolescents, especially in Indonesia, with a significantly increasing trend in reported cases. This study aims to analyze the effect of health education on STIs in improving adolescent knowledge at SMK Dharma Bhakti Tomohon. The method used in this research is a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest format. The respondents consisted of 32 students divided into intervention and control groups. The study results showed a significant increase in adolescent knowledge after receiving health education interventions (p = 0.007) compared to the control group, which showed no significant change (p = 1.000). Health education was conducted through counseling methods using leaflets and videos, which proved effective in enhancing adolescents' understanding of the types, symptoms, modes of transmission, and prevention of STIs. The study concludes that health education is an effective strategy to increase awareness and knowledge among adolescents about STIs, thereby reducing the risk of disease transmission. It is recommended that educational institutions integrate health education programs regularly into the school curriculum
