THE CORRELATION BETWEEN KNOWLEDGE AND THE PREVENTION OF TYPE II DIABETES MELLITUS AMONG PATIENTS AT KAKASKASEN PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER, TOMOHON CITY

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder caused by a lack of the hormone insulin Type II Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disease whose prevalence continues to increase globally, including in Indonesia. Knowledge about type II diabetes mellitus plays an important role in the prevention of this disease. The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between the level of knowledge and efforts to prevent type II diabetes mellitus at the Kakaskasen Community Health Center, Tomohon City. Method: A quantitative research method with a cross-sectional design was used. There were 77 respondents participated in this study using total sample. Data were collected through a questionnaire that measured the level of knowledge and efforts to prevent type II diabetes mellitus in patients visiting the Kakaskasen Community Health Center, analyzed by using the Spearman rho statistical test. Result: The result of this study showed that there is significant p-value is p=0.003 < α=0.05. Conclusion: It could be concluded that there is a significant relationship between knowledge and prevention in type II diabetes mellitus sufferers at the Kakaskasen Health Center, Tomohon City in 2024.
