Abstract

Indonesia is a country prone to natural disasters, including earthquakes, especially because of its location in the Pacific Ring of Fire. Tomohon City, especially SMP Kristen Kakaskasen, is located close to the active Mount Lokon, making this area very vulnerable to earthquakes. This study aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge and preparedness with self-efficacy in dealing with earthquakes among students at SMP Kristen Kakaskasen Tomohon. This study uses a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional correlational design. The number of samples was 86 students taken using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that most students had a good level of knowledge and preparedness, as well as quite high self-efficacy. Bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between knowledge and preparedness with students' self-efficacy in dealing with earthquakes. Continuous disaster education and training are needed in the school environment to improve students' preparedness and confidence in dealing with emergency situations.
