Abstract

ABSTRACT- Anemia in pregnant women is a significant public health issue with serious impacts on both the mother and the fetus, including risks of pregnancy complications, preterm birth, and low birth weight. This study aims to analyze the relationship between maternal age, gestational age, and adherence to iron tablet consumption with the incidence of anemia in pregnant women in the Kakaskasen Public Health Center area, North Tomohon District. The research employed an analytical observational design with a case-control approach, involving 81 pregnant women selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and medical records, then analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed significant relationships between maternal age and anemia incidence (p = 0.004), gestational age and anemia incidence (p = 0.001), and adherence to iron tablet consumption and anemia incidence (p = 0.019). This study highlights the importance of improving adherence to iron tablet consumption and nutritional education to prevent anemia in pregnant women, ultimately enhancing maternal and fetal health outcomes.
